Matthew Reilly has a great series of books centered around Shane "Scarecrow" Scholfield. In chronological order: Ice Station, Area 7, then Scarecrow. He also has some great stand alones.
Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child also write some of the BEST books that you can get your hands on; I devour their Agent Pendergast books in one sitting usually, my favorite of those being The Cabinet of Curiosities.
As for Harlan Coben. Tell No One. Awesome, awesome, AWESOME. Simply the very best mystery book that I have ever read.
If you like sci fi/fantasy, George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series is excellent. The books are very thick (over 1000 pages each) and are time consuming but the story is very involving right from the first book. I am waiting for the next book right now with baited breath. Raymond Feist is also great.
Good luck finding some good books. There are so many great authors out there to try.

Out Back by Aaron Fletcher. There are a series about the outback in Australia. I'm female but I have passed this book on to male friends and all liked it and found the whole series by searching old book stores.
