A lot of cities/towns have both good and bad areas, so it's hard to give specific recomendations. Housing in the greater Boston area is very expensive, so that could be a factor. In general, the richer the town, the better the public schools, since school districts are mostly done by town/city around here.
I live in the part of MA called MetroWest, roughly half-way between Boston and Worcester. I like it here, there are plenty of nice neighborhoods, I can get to the city if I want, or for a walk in the woods, everything's close by. Lots of good school systems, too. I grew up near Hartford, another nice area (not Hartford itself, but the suburbs are nice). CT and MA both have some of the best school systems in the US. I went to grad school at UMass Amerst, which is in a very pretty part of the state, more rural and less suburb-y, but still plenty of stuff to do nearby. That's the nice thing about New England, it's just a short hop to the city or a short hop to the country.

There are lots of good areas. I went to the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, which is a great college town and also has a very good public school system, is safe and very liveable. It's about 2 hours from Boston and is more of a small-town atmosphere.
Now I live in Boston - some good towns around here are Newton, Arlington, Winchester, Belmont - all have great school systems but are very expensive places to live as well. There are all kinds of good universities as well.
Harvard is in Cambridge and is in a safe area - not sure how good Cambridge's public schools are though.

Essex County is good for education. Masconomet Regional Middle Scool & High School are good (Topsfield, Middleton, Boxford) - pretty safe, too - but pricey. The Real Estate in this area is out of this world - which is why I just wish I could live in those towns. We have some great private schools in the area, too if you want to go in that direction.

If you are moving to the Boston area and you can afford it Belmont is a very nice area and very safe. A Little up scale in some areas but if it's a good education your looking for then look into Belmont schools thy have the highest payed teachers in the state and I believe they are in the top ten of the M cast state test. If you are looking for your self look at Boston College (B.C) Regis, Bentley, or Brandise University.Well good luck

Rutland, Massachusetts is the exact center of Massachusetts. If you want safe, you should choose that. There is barely any bad things going on around here. It is out in the country, so it has space, and there are some good restaurants, and there is a good school system. It is very small but you could make a lot of friends. Everyone out here is so friendly. There is a tree that marks the exact center of Massachusetts. Good Luck!!

I nonetheless had a happy relationship with my promptly boyfriend. there have been nonetheless different hetero marriages, so as that did no longer seem a controversy, the two. in actuality, there have been nonetheless different hetero divorces, in basic terms like formerly. extremely, no longer something replaced - different than for the possibility for those people who have been denied the possibility to get married, to now gain this. Gays have been the only ones extremely laid low with gay marriage.

Newton, MA has been voted for safest city and has one of the best school systems in the state. I would definitely check it out, it's a great city, close to downtown Boston. . .Might be just what you're looking for.
