I'm originally from New Jersey. Over the 17 years I've been in the military, I've spent most of my stateside time (9 years) in the southwest.

During that time, I've adopted some southwestern habits (cowboy boots, a few southern terms like "y'all", etc...). Nothing major, it is still readily apparant that I'm not a native southerner.

However, my yankee bretheren in the military think it is rather amusing and nicknamed me the "Jersey Redneck" at work. It just kind of stuck.
