Obtain a boot disk/cd and boot from that. Then you can clean the virus off of your PC.

if your computer is still able to go into windows xp, you could try to download an antivirus software first and try scanning and cleaning you harddrive first..

ive been using AVG ANTIVIRUS for 2years, you could download install the free version @ http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup/avg71free_405a782.exe

make sure to update the AVG ANTIVIRUS after you have installed it.. if that will not work, you have no other choice but to REINSTALL your WINDOWS XP, i believe that there are RECOVERY DISCS that came along with your laptop, usually you just need turn on your computer while the FIRST disc of that recovery software is in the cdrom drive and it has all the instructions that you need to do.

if you have a WINDOWS XP disc, put it in, restart the computer and it should start the INSTALLATION, there is a part of the installation where you can delete all the contents of your drive and install the brand new WINDOWS XP as well.

Just like wha t they said. Reformat your laptop
Make sure you have WindowsXp bootable CDs so that you can restart your laptop

Just make sure you changed your settings so that the next time you boot your laptop, it will use the cd to boot not your hard drive... I think you need to press 'delete' while your laptop is booting so that you can go to the settings and assign your CD-ROM as the 'boot drive' or something eheheheh

you better use anti-virus software to thwart the infection. if there's an antivirus previously installed, try scanning your computer with that. you can download AVG free updated antivirus at http://www.grisoft.com.
