If he continues his play as in the WC then NO WAY! He did quite ok in the few warm-up matches. If he can perform well n help Barca to retain title then he has high chances. But thiery henry will have the chance too. As for cannavaro, it seems very difficult for a defender to get the award.

to three of those numb skulls: certain its 2008 international participant of the three hundred and sixty 5 days!!!! no longer 2007/08 torres is a good participant yet merely because he scored the prevailing purpose at euros doesnt make him the suited participant fabregas no longer being contained in the shortlist is an absolute ****ing shaggy dog tale, similar with ibrahimovic messi could win it, ronaldo had a outstanding 2007 yet spoilt with a disappointing euros and under no circumstances as reliable commence to this season, messi replaced into no longer as reliable in 2007 3 hundred and sixty 5 days yet 2d 1/2 of best season and this season (total of 2008) messi replaced into the suited participant and its provided to the "suited" participant, no longer the "maximum prolific" participant, in the different case Henry could have gained it endless situations over ronaldinho and cannavaro. and if so then why is Luca Toni no longer contained in the award record

My vote goes to Fabio Cannavaro of Italy/ Read Madrid, what an extraordinary display of solid defend. He missed the golden ball in the WC, that he truly deserved. Footballer of the year should go to him all the way.
