A good examination does not only measure the amount that you have learned, but is a learning process in and of itself. What I mean is, an examination allows you to apply the information that you have learned so that you are able to look at the information in a different way. An example of this would be a the Civil war. Let's say you read that slavery was a big issue in the civil war and that the north fought to abolish slavery while the south fought to keep it and that Abraham Lincoln was a leader for the north. A good examination question could be, imagine you are slave during the civil war. What side would you take and why? Are there any leaders that you would be in favor of or against?
You see, this type of question allows you to apply knowledge and think about the facts you learned in a different way.

Education is a slave to examination b/c:
A) Many sources of education need further evaluation to validate their truth. Otherwise, you don't know if you've been educated or misled.
B) People very rarely learn from someone simply telling them facts. They have to pick it apart, examine it, study it, and put it into practice to thoroughly absorb the information and be educated by it.
C) Over the centuries, there's been thought to be many very intelligent people. Take a person from a century ago and put them in today's society, and they'd be considered quite ignorant b/c as the years have passed we have found that certain 'knowledge' was in fact not knowledge at all, but myth. (For example, the world being flat.) These people may have originally been 'educated' about the flatness of the Earth, but due to further examination, they were found to be mistaken. So, their education is totally affected by studies and examinations.
Hope this helps!

- Education should be about the joy of learning, not about passing an exam.
- Exams don't accurately measure how well a person has mastered the subject, as some people know the material but just aren't good test-takers.
- Exams can only test how well a person knows the information, not how well they understand it and analyze it.
- During the time that people spend taking an exam, they could be learning even more about other things.
Hope this helps! Good luck with your debate!

you would possibly want to research to discover, in spite of the undeniable fact that the exam ought to also get up from yet another social gathering to discover your own flair. The time period 'exam' must be taken more effective than one way, so note that you would possibly want to be prepared for any spin on it. in my opinion, i think that exhilaration in practise is a demon to idea. it is our own perceptions of the fee of somewhat of expertise that finally drives us to both seek for an answer or no longer...
