Create a border around the top of the bar with thin plywood....held in place with tape...coat the plywood many times with silicon spray (WD-40 will work) make sure there are no crevices between the plywood and the bar top....create your design and then flow any of the themosetting resins onto the bar-top....but this must not cover the caps....if it covers the caps, heat will be created during the setting process and cause bubbles....after it sets, then a second or third layer can be added....after all has set up, the plywood can be removed and the top finished with fine grades of emery paper and a final buff with jeweler's rouge or even Brasso will finish your project....a fine resin is made by E-Bond Epoxy Resins in Ft. Lauderdale....used on skating rink floors...so it is very durable. I have done this with other objects and I usually immerse the object in uncatalyized resin before placing them...sort of coats them.
