There are very probably no gods. It is so probable that we don't really need to consider it much. It doesn't matter anyway, unless the gods reveal themselves to us. We can only use what we can perceive through our senses or through our technologically extended senses.
The problem is carelessness, yes, and a surplus of other negative and altogether human qualities like apathy, greed, and hate.

god has NOTHING to do with anything in this world!!!
well, god plays a "little" role actually. but almost every terrible things that happened were/going to be caused by us, humans.
how about hitler? did god told him to do it? NO!!!
9/11? did god wants them to "glorify" his name? NO!!!
it's us, humans! yes, we are/were the most perfect of the imperfect creature on earth, but that doesn't makes us a "perfect" being.
