When I lived in England I was a Hearing Aid Audiologist. I got paid £40,000 ($65,000 US) plus BUPA, a new company car every couple of years (my last was a Vaxhaul Vectra 1.8 GLS), and a petrol card so I didn't have to buy petrol. It was a very enjoyable job. These figures date from the year 2000.

I run my own import/export business and I pay myself around 200,000 pounds a year. During bad times I probably cut my salary by 90%. During better times, I declare an extra bonus.
