I am sure it is, and why do we have many American Jews go to Israel and join the IDF?

Even if they are Israeli citizens living in the U.S, and have dual citizen it is still illegal.

It's not illegal to join another country's army unless that country goes to war with the USA. The constitution does not restrict that. And why would it, since there were many who fought for America in the Revolutionary War who were not americans. Why would we restrict a practice that had helped the birth of our country?

No. In fact is was very common during WWI and WWII, before the U.S. entered the wars, for some Americans to join the Canadia/en military so they could fight alongside the British in Europe.

Even these American Taliban and Al Qaeda folks who are captured aren't being arrested for violating any Constitutional prohibitions or even treason. They're being held for violating anti-terrorist laws.

A bit of trivia: Adolf Hitler's nephew, William Patrick Hitler, a U.S. resident during WWII, tried to join the Canadian forces after the U.S. Navy rejected him. He finally was allowed to join the American Navy.

No it's not.

It is possible that you may loose citizenship if you join a foreign army to fight the US.

Many Americans joined British and other allies during both WW 1 and WW 2 before the US became involved. There were some who joined German, Italian and Japanese during either war.

Some lost their citizenship.

US citizens may volunteer to fight with other countries. We had those who fought with England before Dec. 7, 1941.

Neither is there a law against "Mercenaries".
