All too many of them, e.g. my oldest sister, love nothing better than to shove their beliefs down people's throats. Many of them fear that if more people gain knowledge, they'll reject nonsense. Church leaders have a long tradition of trying to suppress scientific knowledge. Science is the latest knowledge, while Religion is outmoded fantasy, so the two really have nothing in common. Some people distort the definitions of these two words to support their beliefs. Someone has more nerve than knowledge to say that Science supports the Bible. Pseudo-Science, distortions and misapplied Science are used to do that. Bishop James Ussher's Bible study found Creation was in 4004 B.C., but scientists find the Earth is 4,700,000,000 years old and the Universe about three times that old. Geologists find no evidence of a world flood, and there could never be one. Noah's Ark couldn't hold examples of the 3,000,000 or so animal species, and the all-wood Ark would fall apart in the Sea. Revelation says stars fell unto earth, and the sky rolled up like a scroll. The sky is space, so there's nothing to roll up. Stars are too distant and too huge to fall to earth. One would vaporize our planet from a few million miles away. The Sun will do just that when it expands. The Bible says pi is 3, but it's 3.14159...so I cannot use the Bible for engineering work or even buying a hat. I wear size 7.8, not 8.2 as the Bible indicates. The Bible has many contradictions, but I've listed many in answering other questions...so I won't repeat that now. I've said enough.

Well i am an Christian and a scientist second. Both are not mutually exclusive. Right now science is confirming the Big Bang and the creation of the universe by a singularity. Go do a search for Reasons to Believe and find many christian scientists who both believe in science and religion. I am not trying to convert you but pointing out that if you are a believer there is confirmation of one's faith in a very creative God. If you look at nature, you have to stand in awe of the mysteriousness of the universe macro and micro-universe. Stars are used as an analogy as Abraham was said to have descendents as many as the stars. Also, in the book of Isaiah, it states that the circle of the earth. Jesus is called the morningstar too. In the book of Job it states the Pleides and Orion, the Bear constellation and so forth.
The answer to your question where in the Ten Commandments does it violate the association of stars? Okay i just figured that out, you mean by worshipping the stars as an idol rather than God Himself. If you worship the star instead of God who created the star then that would be a misguided relationship. You should look to nature in general and worship the designer of nature, not the design.

do u believe in magic? faith? miracles? think about this, if any of those exist then science is blown bahooey. but some stuff from the Bible has been supported my science. i myself am a Catholic and i don't try to convert anyone most of the time so don't see one and treat the rest the same. btw, who associates stars with God? if there is a connection i'd just say God made the stars.

The Bible has been wrong on so many things that I'm surprised that anyone would claim that it hasn't. The 7 day creation? The relative age of the Earth/Universe? Eating pork and lobster?
I do respect the beliefs of others and I welcome challenges from believers.... in the right forum. My fascination in science has very little to do with my lack of faith. I frequently visit the religion and spirituality section and there is where I challenge religious views.

the main considerable topic in maximum Christian religions is the comparable=salvation by using Jesus Christ. some alterations might come into play in issues like: Is actual alcohol wine to be utilized in communion or could or no longer that is grape juice? Are babies to be baptized or is it for decrease than adults? on the time of Noah (Noah's ark) did it rain and flood the finished earth or purely interior the area wherein Noah lived? The Bible might. or won't be completely sparkling on such factors as those yet those are not the information of Christianity. those factors could be sort of considerable yet no longer the main necessary.

Firstly, I applaud Angelface's answer. Everybody should embrace her faith in God no matter what kind of academic science is teaching her.
The writers of the Bible used allegorical phrases, examples from nature, any observation in their surroundings, what they see on earth and the skies, and all other things that allude to their human consciousness in order to expound their faith in the belief of the existence of a spiritual God.
The annoyances come from those who prey on people who have found emptiness in their daily lives. They always end by saying, "Send your donation now!" Are you not surprised that they live in mansions and travel by jet planes?
