give plenty of care and concern, and reassurance. that one is definitely in. medical-wise, probably like take their temperature, check their pulse and make sure they take their medication on time that kind of stuff, depends on what is the illness. you should also include emergency numbers in your region to dial such as for ambulances.
good luck:)

First of all, hon, it's brochure. And here are my suggestions.
Handwashing is a must, even keep some hand sanitizer handy
make sure that no one eats or drinks from each other's dishes
Clean Kitchen and Bathroom with Pine Sol or any disinfectant
Use spray disinfectant on doorknobs, faucets, or anything else that is touched often (if diarhhea, spray bathroom well!!!)
If a doctor prescribes an antibiotic, take it until it is gone. You may feel better in a few days, but you must finish the script to prevent the risk of reinfection.
when providing care for an ill person, it is important to keep your patience, be thorough, and protect yourself.
Also, monitor temp. Anything over 101F call a doc. Always watch for kidney output to decrease. Make sure they drink plenty of fluids and they should use the bathroom as frequentally as they normally would. It's very important when dealing with acute or chronic (extreme or long term) conditions, that you are in communication with a physician. There will be parameters set telling you when the patient is in need of emergency care.
Anytime a person loses consciousness, stops breathing, or you can find no strong pulse in the wrist or neck (carotid artery) it is absolutely time to call 911.
You will find in taking care of others, common sense will get you quite a ways.

Well that all depends on what is wrong with the family member. I can give you guidelines...but you'd have to be more specific about the age, illness...the person's mobility, skin issues...etc. Need to know what they can and can't do for themself and other needs. If they have certain illnesses they may require a special sort of diet or monitoring of blood glucose etc.etc.etc.
It's just too diverse to say ...How do you care for a sick family member? If your family member is currently in the hospital you can ask at discharge exactly what is required to manage their illness. If not ...see the person's doctor to get a good treatment plan.

First: know your limitations
If your family member is too sick, you may need to call a doctor or get him/her to hospital.
Generally the way to know if your family member is too sick is
- they are struggling to breath
- they are not as alert and with it as they usually are - more confused or drowsy
- they are not making urine and needing to go to the toilet
- if they have a VERY BAD chest pain or tummy pain
- if they can't move their arms/legs that they could usually move
any of the above - take this person to hospital!
If they are not so sick as to call a doctor or go to hospital, then you can probably take care of them at home. It will help to know what is going on with them.
Generally - make sure they can get from the bed to the toilet
- keep them comfortable with simple pain medications such as paracetamol (or acetaminophen if you are in the USA)
- make sure they have food and drink (unless they are needing an operation soon - in which case why are they still at home?)
- keep their feet warm
- keep their head cool
- keep their bowels open

Follow your instincts.
Give him healthy and easy to eat food.
Give water regularly, beat if there's a flask beside his bed for him to do it himself if he needs water.
Bath him regularly, if he has locomotion problem, consider buying adult diapers. If he can't bah for some reasons, use a wet cloth and wipe him daily.
Last but not least, do not feel that you are being a servant to him, who knows you might need his help next time and he will treat you back the same way you had treated him.
