I prefer to use recommendation - so I would ask friends and neighbours first - I have even asked in the local post office - they know everyone. However I am getting more and more answers like this 'I used Fred Bloggs but I wouldn't recommend him as ... then a range of things from, didn't turn up on time/when he said. /Charged more than he quoted/ found 'other' jobs to do and charged a lot/did not do the job with finesse etc etc
But when you do find a good worker make sure you keep his number - worth his/her weight in gold.
When all else fails I've used Thompson Local and Yellow pages,. mostly the work has been OK but a little overcharged.
When I've used local paper I've usually got people fairly unskilled or even just on the make.
Be careful and good luck!

i could think of 10 to 20 an hour, despite the fact that it does count on the job being carried out and the skilllevel of the prson doing the paintings. be careful, doing stuff you haven't any journey with. Telling somebody you're able to do a job and not handing over or doing a undesirable job won't get you greater referals. Why are there classified ads, nicely in case you desire bussiness you may get the word out which you're accessible, how else will human beings discover you? enable's say you acquire a job for immediately portray a room, what are you going to do tommorow or next week?? being waiting to time table paintings each and every week or so from now will save you busy.

I wouldn't use a phone service because these have not done any better than the old 192, in my opinion. They are expensive also.
I'd use one of the printed directories, because my internet pc is only switched on at times.

It depends where you live.
Say you lived in Hollywood Miami then go to Google Maps http://maps.google.com/ type in Hollywood Miami and you will get a map of your area.
Then type 'plumber' into the search box and up comes all the names and locations of your local plumbers.
Easy isn't it :)

Try them all, as it gives you a lot of options, i'd avoid the yellow pages though as dodgy people can advertise in it. Try your local papers as they have sections on them.
