your sister needs to go back to a neurologist and be revevaluated
they may want to do another ct scan and a mri to make sure every thing is ok. they can determine from the symptoms of the migraine and severe headaches in general what type for ex is it vascular or cluster-like headache and prescribe some meds that help with the pain. i wish her the best of luck. i'm a migraine sufferer and i know she's in pain!! take care!!!

ginger is a natural antiemetic - it relieves nausea, but it won't help prevent or alleviate her migrains
Imitrex® is a drug that will diminish/ remove the migrain once it has begun - by acting on serotonin3 receptors, it constricts the blood vessels in the brain to reduce the swelling & pooling of excess blood thought to cause the migrains in the first place
It is only available thru doctor's prescription and a family vascular history has to be done first since there could be some issues w/ blood vessel constrictions
There are many causes for a migrain - small lifestyle changes can lead to dramatic results
Ex: a new mattress or pillow, change in lighting in the house or work area, the shoes she walks in, food/ smell triggers
Tell her to keep a headeache log of how intense they are, when and where she gets them and what she did & ate that day
This will help to better pin point certain triggers
Also chiropractics may help to correct any misalignment that may be irritating the spine
good luck, its a tricky situation, i hope she finds an answer

I have had them for years myself then the doctor introduced me to Topamax it a seizure medication but it is also used for severe migraines taken everyday it keeps you from getting them but you do have to take it every day as a preventive medication. I have been without a migraine now for 1 year I mean i will get a headache once in a while but that is heaven compared to the alternative.

The key to helping your sister is to find her triggers. If they come and go at various times of the year, they could be linked to the weather... some people are walking, talking barometers, and changes in pressure can be brutal.
Also try to find out if foods or sleep patterns affect the migraines.
Some foods such as milk, peanut butter (and other nut product), and citrus fruits, while not triggers in themselves, help to load the gun, making you more susceptible to the triggers when they come.
Try to stay away from analgesics, and ask about Triptans to control the pain.
Good Luck.

that sucks..I don't know.. may be you could go without the pill for a month and see if anything changes? I'd go with Maple Leaf's answer, ask a pharmacist or your gynecologist I've been on the pill Yasmin for 5 years straight (I have to for health reasons) and I've never experienced any side effects, I've been to several gynecologists and I've been told it was the pill with the lowest dose and the least side effects. its supposed to be a great alternative for women who experience adverse effects from other oral contraceptives because it contains drospirenone, whatever that is lol. Better to ask your doctor though hope u get better!
