Compared to most cats, yes. Tigers are the largest and heaviest of the big cats, and the largest sub species (the Siberian) can weigh more than 650 pounds, heavier than a black bear.

Compare this to the African lion, which weighs in a full hundred pounds lighter, and yeah, tigers are stocky, muscular, powerful animals.

Jaguars are stockier, but smaller over all.
