Yeah, getting old is a bit scary to even think about. What is scary about it is that, once you are old you get the feeling or are rather reminded that you won't live forever. The more you age the more you get closer to the grave. I think that is the scary part.
Another scary part, if you believe in the after-life - and being rewarded for the deeds done while on earth, is when you haven't really done much that is worth any reward. You see your life as being the most fruitless there is, when you reflect back and see nothing to be proud of - there aren't any accomplishment, nothing to really live behind as a legacy for others to learn from. I think this is also very scary in a way.
The last scary part I think, is the expectation of the unknown. You don't know what to expect, because no one has actually died and came back and reported what it is like that side. So getting old really gets those kinds of thoughts in one's mind. And there seems to be no way of ignoring them. When you are young, you don't bother yourself with such things - they might pop up in your mind, but you quickly dismiss them.

No, I'm afraid of NOT getting old. If it were possible, I would have stopped aging at about 35, as long as I could continue to live.

No I'm not afraid of getting old. It's just a bit of a drag when you go to bed feeling like hell and wake up still aching. When I was in my 20s I'd go to bed and wake up feeling great every time. Otherwise aging is no biggie. I think more people are afraid of dying than aging. If I could stop aging at any age, I'd have to choose 20something. I plan to be a cranky old woman one day and wear stripes with polka dots if I feel like it.

Nope I am not afraid. We have to accept that all of us are just getting older!
Listen to the song ''Just older'', by Bon Jovi. Here's some lyrics...''this skin I'm in it's alright with me...it's not old...just older..!''.
It's not the age you are, but how you feel inside! I've seen people at my age (23 years old) feeling that they are in their late 50's. But I've also seen my grandmother who is 76 years old and still feels that she's 20 years old!
You can see if some people feel fine about their age...if their eyes are still shining...this tells you that they love life and want to continue living no matter how old they are.

I'm not afraid of getting old, persay. I just don't much look forward to it. I don't want to feel the aches and pains, and look in the mirror and see wrinkles and the remnants of my youth. If I could stop aging, I'd stop at 25. I wanted to say 21 at first, but I was still dumb at 21. I want to be young enough to be healthy and physically fit to complete any task I set my mind to. But I want to be old enough to legally do anything. Old enough to know better, but just too young to care! lol

I'm not sure I'd want to stop aging entirely but I would like to slow it down a lot. Sometimes, I already wish I was younger but mostly I think I would like to stop aging at around 75. I don't think I want to look older than Mrs. Claus.

Well, I think that when you reach 50, you are officially old.
So, I am old already.
Am I afraid to get older? Well if I get older, it means that I am living. If I stop aging it means that i am dead. Therefore, I rather be afraid to stop aging.
And, after all, there is nothing you can do about it, is there?
