i've heard alot of brits say they could! i dont mean any disrespect to u brits, but u know u couldnt possible beat us in a war! sure ur military is full of tuff dudes but u guys are smart right? if u guys were then u'd know that u could not actually beat us! we are just to big of a country and we have to best and newest technology in the world! my guess is that u guys are just being patriotic! thats good! i just want to know what u other brits think! once again, i have nothing against u brits, u guys are our allies and fairly nice people in my eyes! please take no offense! oh and one more thing! why do u guys call us "Yanks"! its annoying and it seems like an insult! or it seems like that to me anyway! thanks!

To be perfectly honest I have never heard of this question before. As you say, we are allies and I personally hope that is the case for as long as we are around. However, I would imagine that the USA would win that war based on it's resourses and manpower. I sincerely hope that this will be the last time I ever hear of this theory too. I have made quite a number of American friends and feel slightly alarmed at the thought of us being enemies.
Don't take offence by the word "yank", None is intended, anymore than if you called me a "limey", OK??? have a great day.

I'm sure nobody in Britain thinks we can win a war agains the US, any other nuclear state, an invading fleet from the planet Zog or a ragtag bunch of Afghan extremists.

Players of online video games are anonymous and probably pumped up with adrenaline, so there's likely to be much bravado. Don't believe anything anyone tells you when they won't give their real name (like me for instance).

The question is about a one-on-one war. We were defending many terrritories so had fewer troops to deploy (even used German mercenaries!) and we weren't bothered about losing the "American Colonies" over other territories (eg India). You had the French by your side and would have lost without them. The patriots fought with the British or went to Canada - Mel Gibson's guys were rebels, but winners get to rewrite the history as their own myth.

Please ignore anyone stupid enough to make drunken boasts like that! They are the same people who think they can drive in a straight line after 12 pints of beer, 3 joints, and chasing the dragon! They're not worth the effort of your anger!

Apart from that, why are you so sure of your military might? You couldn't even finish a war in Iraq - a country with NO WMD!! Heck, they barely even fought back when you invaded, but it's still fallen to pieces...!

Nope. They won't do that since they're our biggest ally. Plus, why would they want to do that since America is the biggest and only superpower in the world. It's in their best interest to stick with whatever U.S. is doind i.e. Iraq.
