I love spending time with my dogs more than my baby is that weird?

I think that is very sad. One should love there pets but there is no greater love then a parent and a child. As for your wife tricking you into having a baby, the fact of the matter is you are a father now and you need to be there for your child . The baby isn't going anywhere. Spend some time with your baby and you will end of loveing the bond you have with it. Good luck.

Many parents, (moms or dads), can feel a little disconnected whatever the circumstances. The fact that you bring up that you were tricked indicates your problem.

The baby is here now. Realize that the tiny little infant will always know you as Daddy. You have to adjust. Daddies are great at being the playful side of being a parent. The way you play with the dogs, play with the baby. I swear to you, you will get such a kick when the baby responds to it.

My husband never really inter-acted with our first 2 kids until they were school-aged. With our third, he discovered how rewarding it was to be hands on. Moms have to be totally attentive for baby's sake. Dad's get the luxury of getting the baby's love by being fun.

Yeah, you have to change diapers, the little thing cries alot, it poops, it throws up on you...............but when that baby smiles because you enter the room.......when the baby says your name for the first time......when the baby falls asleep in your arms and it feels like nothing you have ever felt before, because you know, this little life depends on you to live.........The dogs will probably be dead in 10 years.

The baby will be telling your great grandchildren of how special a man you were!

You are mad at your wife for tricking you into getting her pregnant, so you don't really like the baby as much because that is a direct result of yoru wife tricking you. So you spend with your dogs or baseball cards or video games or whatever more because the baby reminds you of it every day.

Look this seems so temporary over-reaction ..

your feelings will change dramatically by time .. when you babies get older and closer to you.. when they start to call you by name and play with you .. when you will see them so happy ..the minute you come back home ..

Don' get worried at all .. as far as your heart can carry all that love for your dogs .. i'm sure you will have much more passion for your babies ..

Well i could see how, you would resent something like that, but dude it isnt your baby's fault, the fault lies with your wife, the two of you need to be talking things over, and you need to decide if its really where you wanna be in life. the point is its here, do you really want to let your own child think you dont love it????

Well, sometimes you just don't know what to do with a baby. You don't know if it needs to be fed, or changed or just held. It can be awkward, especially if it's your first child. I do think you ought to give your child a chance, and try to spend more time with him/her. And talk to your wife about it. Also, parenting classes might help you.
