Like all things the answer depends on your definition of terms. That aside, as an intelligent species matures it should rid itself over time of bad characteristics such as war and slavery, which I believe is happening.
However, due to the makeup of the human brain I do not think we will ever rid ourselves completely of certain "bad" emotions, such as jealousy, greed, anger, hate, etc. These are due to our competitive nature which is also responsible for most of our progress.
So bad and good are two sides of the same human coin, causing hurt and pain but also joy and delight. To live with both sides at the same time, couldn't this be the mark of true intelligence?

I Do understand your question, and i wonder the same, and really feel sadness,
clever to me is a person who is quick, their mind is always alert, and have the ability for figure things out fast, fix or correct things, (a great imagination) Finding a quicker and easier way to accomplish a task,
Intelligent, is aware, educated, ability to learn and reason
this is all a play with words, but my point is
wisdom, and fools seem to be opposite,
i think we have such a unique variation of humans, that all have talents, some are beyond imagination of other humans,
with all the gifts, knowledge, experience mankind has evolved to,, and chosen, the agendas do not support all
of the best man has to offer,
fools rush in..
where wise men never go,, remember that song?
SO DO THE WISE MEN WAGE WAR OVER THE FOOLS,
OR IS IT THE OTHER WAY AROUND?
one of the marine corps sayings "KILL THEM ALL, LET GOD SORT EM OUT"

War, racism and greed has nothing to do with intelligent. History shows us that some intelligent people can turn into a dictator and manipulator, Hitler was clever and intelligent for he was able to manipulate lots of people to support his casue. I think instead of focusing all our might with Knowledge,we should also focus on Wisdom... and maybe, who knows... we might all get together fine, 'cause we know when is the right time to yak and to shut-up.

Yes to both - but also not so bright, this is on a case by case basis. To answer the rest of your question - I don't believe it is just an intelligence question. Humans are very complicated and culturally diverse. First we need to learn to understand each other and then co-operate.

intelligent doesn't necessarily mean wise. there are intelligent bigots out there. as a species i think we learn a little more, discover, and invent over time.. but we try too hard to keep ourselves alive.. i say we go back to natural selection and let the dumb ones die off. then the percentage of intelligent people would rise.

They are both intelligent and clever. When you get a mix of the two, you get confusion.

I believe intelligence should be measured by more than just thought, it should be measured more by the light a person has inside, which is to say their goodness.

I personally think that the majority of you humans are stupid. you have the highest IQ of all the animals, but you don't have the common sense of a toad. you are sentient beings, but you waste your self awareness by maintaining ignorance of your sentience. you were created in God's image, but you corrupt it with greed. you were given the ability to shape your world, to invent things, to come to the very threshold of actually creating matter, but you create things that keep you from exercising your ability to create. You invented global systems for moving food from areas of high productivity to areas where people starve, but you used your global commerce to make even the best producers destitute. Consider yourselves lucky that God keeps his covenant with Noah.
