The low sodium (salt) is all connected if you are retaining fluids (edema) which you will if your sodium intake is high your body is having to work harder to get the fluids around which causes higher blood pressure which means that the heart is having to work harder than it should, this might be okay for a short amount of time but eventually your heart starts getting tired of working so hard and becomes less effective--extra fluid in the body, difficulty breathing all sorts of things, so to prevent all these negative things from happening you should follow your low sodium diet and call your dr with any concerns. This is just a general answer as I don't know what all of your health issues are.

Yes, high sodium is dangerous.

High blood pressure (hypertension) is one of the the most dangerous health problems. If this gets out of hand, you're at a higher risk of heart attacks.

Also, high sodium will make you more jumpy, as it increases nerve depolorization. At extremely high levels, this may be extremely dangerous.

High sodium is high salt, and it can cause all kinds of medical problems. Aside from the two you have mentioned in your question, it can additionally cause heart problems, stress your kidneys, and more besides.

The trouble is a lot of ready-made and take-away foods have high salt levels, and sometimes it is hard to be aware of just how much sodium/salt we are getting in our diets. Unintentionally, we may be eating way too much.

If your doctor is putting you on a sodium-restricted diet, then he/she is trying to reduce the risk of high-sodium related diseases for you.
