I am heterosexual, but alway wondered..
How many range of lesbians are there?
Why do some feminine women go for dykes and some dykes go for dykes, and feminine with feminine?
Is there a preference each time, or does it vary everytime as long as she is women?

A lesbian is attracted to whatever type of female that turns her on just as a heterosexual female is attracted to the type of man that turns her on. Why the need for categorization? Do I categorize you because you like tall dark haired men or short blond men or heavy set bald men with whiskers?
Are you turned on by every man who walks past you? I am not turned on by every woman who walks past me! But I don't categorize her when I find the one that I am turned on by. She is just a woman I find to be sexy. usually there are certain characteristics that I stick with but not always.
And personality type plays as much of a role as body type. I would never date a loud, shrilly, princessy type no matter how she dressed, looked or thought. Nor would I date a silent, moody aggressive type. I know what I like, inside and out. Do you?
Being a lesbian is not just about pysical.

We dont intentionaly categorize ourselves into being such.
But upon observation, normally fems go with fems, while dykes are with "almost" straight ladies.
Lesbians prefers the woman at it's essence.
Being attracted to the normal - female - looking ones
There are 3. Dyke, femme, and the bisexuals. AS some people states, once an heterosexual woman spends one time with a lesbian, she can be considered already as a lesbian.

I was going to answer but you already have some good ones. Being bisexual I go for more of the pretty girls but I like short messy hair if the person is right, so it changes with who it is. Kind of like Angelina Jolie in Foxfire. I don't think I would date a women who looked too much like a man cause then why not just find a man huh. But I do look at the person before the gender, it plays a part but overall it's her or him I fall for. I don't do the labels thing. Love is love.
Oh and bisexuals are not lesbians just as they are not straight. Even if a bi girl is with another girl she is still bisexual, she doesn't turn into a lesbian.

I think it is just a preference just like anything else. Why do straight white women (no offense) want a blond hair blue eyed guy with a six pack or vice versa. It is just your preference. Some butch girls feel like and act like a man and would like a lady on their arm. Where on the other hand some fem women feel like if they get a girl that looks like a man, then they might as well be with a man. So I don't think there is a definitive answer because it is just a matter of what an individual likes.

I don't discriminate at all. I'm a woman loving women, lol. This one girl I had a crush on was a total fem-girly girl, makeup, really into hip hop, the club/dance scene and all that-but now I date a goth, who's a little like a soft stud. Go figure. Most of the time I go for fems, but I have been attracted to studs before too.

The Butch, The Dyke, The Bull Dyke, The Bull Butch Dyke, The Chain, The Tom, The Slammer.
The Ball, The Fem, The Jane.
The Dyke will always couple with a Fem, NEVER Butch to Butch etc. A Ball with A Chain, A Dyke with a Fem get it??

It really comes down to personal preference. Different "types" of lesbians, if you want to break down the community that way, are attracted to different types of women. Some women don't even bother with labels, like myself.

There are as many ranges of lesbians as there are straight women....as answered before, sometimes we have certain preferences that continue throughout our lives, sometimes we take a total detour from what we usually find attractive.......
years ago I was mostly attracted to petite, fair skinned women........then I started noticing how beautiful Asian women were..........the a butch crossed my path and I about made an as* out of myself trying not to stumble & mumble around her.......
If you think about it, women are simply beautiful creatures!!

I personally dont like to label myself or others.
I have dated a range of different 'types' of lesbians- and i prefer the-girl-about-town, studs (but those who wear a small amount of make up/ groomed).
I love short, cropped messy hair.
I dont consider myself a femme or a butch. sometimes i wear make- up and fix my hair. other days i dont. I am just me.

I personnaly like stud females, but i am slo attracted to femmes....it all depends on your preference....Typically in any relationship you will have the masculine/feminine figure
