Because most people are...not honest and find it easier to tell jive... I mean People are Honest I Believe...to a certain extent...you're not my next Boss,are you ??They try not to offend your feelings essentially I reckon. I would .That is The way I was raised..Ever been to Australia...They Will fix you up solid.

I sometimes am not honest if I don't want to hurt someone's feelings. However since I am getting older, I seem to be getting more honest, and it actually feels better, and people respond to it better. Most people know when you are being dishonest just to avoid hurting their feelings. If you are refering to people who just out right lie for no reason, and fabricate stories, that I will never understand.

Because a lot of times it would too painful for people to be honest ( depending on the circumstances) they would much rather ignore it and cover up the truth.

you must understand that not all people appreciates honesty.
Sometimes it doesn't pay to be honest at all. You must know who you are dealing with. Of course there are the ones whom likes real honest, forthcoming people. But in the modern society, how much is honesty worth?

People often do not see things in such a straight manner, most things are rarely so clear cut when your involved in the situation. Things get fuzzy when you weigh in on the situation, we can only hope for the best.

Some people have different ways of communicating.
some people like yourself like the direct approach, I like to flank from the side, some people creep up from behind, and all the other angles.
Also, some people observe social etiquette, or they think its rude to speak bluntly without buttering the bread.

because they think that they should be tactful at all times....that their being honest and to the point will make some to get embarrassments....
