What is appealing about scantily clad, muscle bound men fondoling eachother in a ring? I can understand sraight ladies and gay guys getting some sort of thrill ,but what about you straight guys? What do you get out of it...would you not rather see them clothed and really fighting in the street or something? If so, why are we still staring at these bad actors...okay the actual wrestling has a slim chance of being authentic ,but the little skits before the rumbling might as well be a bad soap opera...why can't they just skip that?

Wow, you folks take things the wrong way...this was a question, not a criticization until you turned it into one. Just because someone makes millions of dollars doesn't make them any less of a douchebag. I was looking for an unbiased answer to my biased question just to see who had the brains to actually think it through ant let their opinion get in the way of what their anwser is. Some of you got it right, the others propably watch WWF...no problem with that ,but when things are dumb ,why not point them out? George Bush, for example.

The scantily clad costumes are for the women and gays. The violence are nearly for everyone. Its a marketing concept get all forms of audience.

Also the show of muscle is sometimes for men too. Like a comic hero (With powers and strength or can accomplish feats)some relate what they want to have thus admire them.

The skits fulfill some further marketing. Like when some wrestlers beat up the manager or owner that is doing everything to make him fall or make his favorite guy the champion. It sometimes fulfill some people's desire to stand up to their superior maybe not in a way of beating them up. Or when a little guy fights a big muscle bound guy. It somehows makes the average joe feel good and makes them believe in themselves that they can beat odds.

Hey, why don't you ask yourself why you have enough time on your hands to criticize a product you ostensibly do not care for? Instead, go f*cking find another sport you do like, or watch TNA and indies instead of WWE. If all professional wrestling skipped the "bad soap opera," then there'd be no drama. No drama = no fuel for the match, numb nut. You're never going to get as into a match that does have a heated rivalry versus a match that has two unknown wrestlers thrown into the ring at the last second to kill time in front of the fans. If you took away all the histrionics, there'd be two people in there wrestling with absolutely no motive. It you wanted amateur, JUST WATCH AMATEUR! Geez... If you don't understand just how difficult it is to go out there and wrestle let alone hold a mic and possess enough charisma to not get booed out of the ring, then don't say anything! Go watch your stupid UFC where two guys are even CLOSER together, trying to choke each other out. Ooh... how interesting. By the way, I'm not a "straight guy;" I'm a teen girl, and I love hot gay guys, so don't misconstrue my last comment as me being homophobic, which I most certainly am not! In fact, the closer the better. I just don't respect a sport (UFC) that has to say sh*t about other sports in order to sell. And I truly don't hold any respect for losers like you. My advice: go do something more productive with your time.

It isn't. The muscles and other stuff are all for show. They are promoting people to work out in gyms and stay healthy. The fighting is just for fun .In real life, most of them are wimps. Why we stare at them? That's easy. It's because they can do everything we can only dream about. They are like supermen to some people. Those skits are to intensify the match so that people anxiously await the match. Imagine as a good vs evil fight in real life where the good guy doesn't always win.

The acting is pretty overdone, but it is actually kinda funny. Don't take it so seriously, and the wrestling is mostly fake. The wrestlers could NEVER survive being grabbed by the neck, and then twisted backward, and then slamed face down from about five feet! And all the punches they do, yet there is never really a lot of blood, until the end of the match.

I guess it would be the same as when they're clothed. The wrestlers just want to show off their fake steriod-powered muscles and guys would want to be just like that. I have to agree that those skits are totally ridiculous and retarded. That's all i have to say.

every person that answers this question saying something bad about wrestling is just jealous because they wish that they could make as much money as wrestlers do.
