back in the 80s some guy invented the pet rock, you got a little rock in a box with breathing holes in it and a training manual, it was a joke but everyone took to it as well as they did the tomagochi or however you spell that. It was just a funny little nothing gift you could give anyone

Back in the days before PCs were in every home, they came up with a marketing gimmick. They put rocks inside of boxes with straw and included a training manual. They were really good at "sit" and "stay".
The fad lasted about six months during the Christmas shopping season but the guy became a millionaire.

It was a big fad in the early 70's.
It came in a small cardboard box similar to what you get when you buy a bird at a pet store, along with a little booklet that explained how to care for and train it.

all i know about pet rocks is that they are rocks that little kids keep as pets cuz they cant get a real pet and my sister had one (when she was little) named roxie.

Very low-maintenance pets! They eat little and don't use kitty litter! Also, if you ever get bored of them, simply chuck 'em away - they have no rights!!
