Both of them is your IP. What we're talking here is, Public IP address, and Private IP address. whatismyip.com reveals your Public IP Address, while IP Config reveals your Private IP address.

Public IP address is the IP given by your Internet Connection Provider to you or your computer as your unique ID. This is the one that is visible by other computers outside your network.

Private IP address, on the other hand, is the IP address given by your router or hub. This IP address is usually in the form of 192.168.1.x, where x may be any number frm 1 to 255. Private IP address is useful on for local network.

Basically, all computer that is connected to a LAN, have an IP address. And a computer that is connected to Internet, also has IP address. A computer that is connected to LAN and Internet, have 2 IP address, public and private.

NOTE: LAN, in this context, means connected to a router or hub, and not necessarily have to have another computer on the network.

it is because you exit through an router !!! that is your proxy server if the proxy has a real ip address. if your proxy is behind a lot of other proxies, then the ip address shown on http://www.whatismyip.com/ is the address of the mst top-proxy.

the ip given to you by ipconfig is your computer`s ip addrss.
ps: do not give this address to other users for onnecting to you either for etp or for diffrent games unless they are in the same network segment. you must have a port forwarding on all the proxies you go through for them to be able to conenct to you.

You may have multiple IP addresses if you have a home network.

The DSL or Cable modem will be assigned one. If you have a wireless or wired network to the cable box, you may have an internal network addredd that is switched by the modem box.

In this case, the internal network may be 192.168.1.10 and the cable/DSL may be 60.10.1.3. This last one is the address to the internet. The first one is only useful if you are communicatng between local machines at home.

if you are using a home network (wireless) then address shown would be different.
The website shows you your IP address as its appears on the internet and is the real one.
One you use using IPCONFIG is for your home network and assigned by your router as a part of NAT Private IP...

Hope this helps

The IP in ipconfig is most likely your internal IP. Meaning not your external IP, unless you are on cable or dialup.

Control Panel--Network and Internet connections--then click on network connections.

There you will see dial up or DSL if you have a high speed connection.

Double click which ever one you have and a box appears with your IP numbers.

You're probably on a LAN.

Sites like http://www.whatismyip.com and http://www.cmyip.com are more than likely accurate unless you're behind a proxy.
