I have that the French revolution happened and the beheading of the king and queen of france. Any others?

The novel is fact based, but the exact people in it are fictional. The revolution was real, and the king and queen were real. The other characters were fictional.

The characters and basic plot are fictional, just the surrounding times and most things about the revolution are true. Probably the most sad and thought provoking book (fiction) I've read.
