solvents are used to seperate such mixtures in which one of the components is soluble in some particular solvent e.g.water is the most common solvent used.
SUBSTANCE - SOLVENT
chlorophyll- methylated spirit
grease- petrol
iodine - ethyl alcohol
nail polish - acetone
nitre - water
oil - petrol
rust - oxalic acid
rubber - benzene
paint - turpentine oil

What is your exact question? Solvent extraction series are a series of different solvents mixed with the unknown material (one at a time), and the residue or precipitate is removed and perhaps subjected to other solvents, The first solvent that the sample was rteated with is boiled off leaving the substances in that substance that dissoved in the first solvent. It can be further treated with another solvent. etc. The process of using different solvents and collecting the residue and also the solvent with dissolved solutes the slowly separates the components of the original sample, into its constituent chemicals. Or all the material are put aside and the desired single chemical thus purified and saved. For example, one of the first solvent extractions of a complex plant sample (exudate) was Sauteurner's solvent extraction isolation of pure morphine from opium poppy flower pod latex exudate, in 1805.

Chloroform :
Smaller amounts of chloroform are used as a solvent in the pharmaceutical industry and for producing dyes and pesticides. It is used as a solvent for research in academic chemistry laboratories, also. As a solvent it can be used to bond pieces of acrylic glass (which is also known under the trade name 'Perspex'). Chloroform is one of the most effective known solvents for alkaloids in base form, and may be used to extract nitrogenous chemicals from plant material for pharmaceutical processing. It is commercially used to extract morphine from poppies, scopolamine from Datura plants, and so on.

Methanol :
Methanol is also used as a solvent and as an antifreeze in pipelines. The largest use of methanol by far, however, is in making other chemicals. About 40% of methanol is converted to formaldehyde, and from there into products as diverse as plastics, plywood, paints, explosives, and permanent press textiles.

THF:Tetra Hydro furan
The Trapp mixture extends the temperature range applicability of THF as a solvent.
