I have found that people don't like to be caleld 'racist' by others as it really does tell them how others see them and understand their views, many don't like to admit to be racists and to have someone else tell you you are, is causing them to feel uncomfortable with the truth. You are not bad at all to have used this term, "if the cap fits, wear it", if your partner is a racist but can;t admit it, then he/she has the problem not you!

Tina, It really depends on views I suppose. Do you know what racism truly is? "racism" has been completely abused. Sometimes what may seem like a racist remark may be a fact. For instance the following remark: "Black people make better basketball players". Many associate that with racism. In fact there are more black basketball players, many more. It is an observation that is based on evidence. In Science, observation is critical in a deeper understanding of a process, or law. In race relations we are taught to avoid looking at reality. This backward thinking can only be summed up as a deep rooted sickness within society.
Call a racist a racist "If the shoe fits, wear it".
I challenge you to think about this issue more. I encourage you to observe many ridiculous views that are being fed to us. I hope that you always are able to ask the tough questions, regardless of your personal beliefs. Feel free to respond!

There is no point in reacting to ignorant and racist people in the first place. They can rant and yell all they want, finally they will be held into account on the Day of Judgement (if you believe in God). The only thing you can do is try to stay calm.
If you react the same way, what will be the difference and your anger will only be killing you. I don;t think calling him a racist is bad though. If you react it should be in a calm manner, which may be hard but it has a better affect on people.

Heck no. You only feel that way because your racist partner made you feel that way. Listening to racist views without reacting is worse than calling someone a racist.

In a relationship honesty in never a bad thing. Sooner or later a partners views will be made known. When you live with someone you get to see things about that person that you might not have seen before. A partner may hold views that you may or may not agree with. A person has to ask themselves how important is this to me? There are faults a person can live with, and there are faults a person cannot live with. Which one of these is this to you? Your partner may be asking himself this question. You said something in a fit of anger and anger has a bite to it that hurts. What do you think?

I think people throw that term around to much lately! If every one expressed one view about any other colour/ culture, someone, somewhere would consider it racist. The real problem is that people generalise to much and everyone just needs to chill!!! People should be able to express their opinions without worrying that they'll be labelled as some kind of 'ist'!!

No you are not. If your partner was being racist then you have every right to tell them. If they don't like that tag then they shouldn't have been racist.
Plus, it's them expressing their opinion but not allowing you to express yours.

You are not at all bad to call someone racist for being racially offensive. Until people are made aware of just how offensive they are being they will continue.
I truly believe that many people do not realise that they are racist & would deny it to the death.
