No. Fish can last a week or more without eating. Don't buy a weekend feeder, it will mess up your water quality. Before you go, feed your fish well for a few days and then do a water change (20% is good). Then turn off your lights. They should be fine when you get home.

As the others said you could get a weekend feeder but they can live without the food for that time frame. Also if you have ominivore (eats both plants and animals) fish, then there may be plenty of leftover food in your gravel. Or if money is not a problem, you could invest in an automated feeder(I think you can set feeding time on these). They sell them in petshops and also at Walmart. And for 5 bucks extra you can buy a timer for your hood lights if you have your fish on a set feeding schedule.

Depends on the fish, I keep mainly salt water fish and many of the larger saltwater fish can go for a week without food, if they're well fed beforehand. With smaller fish, they don't last as long.

Have a trusted friend stop by each day you're gone to feed your fish. By the end of day two, the larger fish might look upon the smaller fish, thinking "you're looking pretty dam good, boy", leaving the poor smaller fish paranoid and uncomfortable for good reasons.

Otherwise, you might come home and find both fish dead....or one fish alone with a very portly belly, burping with a sheepish smile on his face.

Fishes don't need calories to live but they have special kind of energy packets stored in there body. fishes can easily make it if they are left for two weeks without food but if you have a community tank this may be dangerous as some territorial fish will nip of fins of other fishes as breakfast. You can use holiday food for your fishes but it is not necessary. You can train your fishes to live without food by skipping one or two days feed.It will help when you will be supposed
to go away from home.
Hope this would help.Bye.

There are automatic fish feeders which are white blocks of minerals and fish meal, some have tubifex worms in the center, that dissolve into the water, which the fish will eat up or just nibble on the block directly. Found almost anywhere pet supplies are sold.

Your fish might die, but its a small chance of it happening.

No, but you can get them weekend food. I forget what it is called, but they look like white chalk. LOL... Or you could buy an automatic feeder with a timer that will feed them.

You can buy weekend feeder blocks at most tropical fish stores. They are white blocks shaped like seashells.
