If someone participates in sexually irresponsible behavior I would not be too happy about having to pay for it. That said, we should not merely focus the lens on gay men because a lot of straight men and women participate in sexually irreponsible behavior that could cause them to contract HIV, too. That presents a little problem, though. How would you prove how they got it? Would it be OK if they got through IV drug use?

Seriously, how can any person of conscience condone denying someone necessary medical treatment? Are you sure you want your morals to be examined in determining whether or not you qualify for medical care? That is not indicative of a person raised in a civilized society.

On C-Span's Washington Journal a few years back there was a woman talking about "HIV Parties." Apparently, contracting HIV has become "cool" within some gay men circles. The purpose of these parties is for HIV infected men to have unprotected sex with HIV negative men in the hopes of giving the negative guy HIV.

I was so furious about what I was hearing that I called up and said that those men need to be prosecuted if they did not already have their own lavish insurance carriers. Their actions are equivalent to walking into a federal bank and stealing 50-60 thousand dollars! Who do they expect to pay for their medications and treatment?!

The woman on the show responded that what they were doing was no different to people who smoke or people who are obese and eat too much. I think not lady!! Maybe smoking---since that is voluntary---but some obese are victims of being raised the wrong way.

That's what they call it, barebacking? I never knew that.
I think the gay society that wants to be able to marry and live as a society that is different than ours should all form together and help those of the fallen ones, medically and financially. Why should everyone that is not gay be held in financial obligation for what they do not believe in?
But on a quiet note, "Wise man say.....Ride horse bareback, fall off great circle"

If a fat person constantly eats all the wrong foods , should society support him/her medically 100% if he/she gets diabetes?

A diabetic costs MORE to care for than an AIDS victim. A diabetic usually lives much longer and usually has MANY more other medical problems caused by the disease.

Your question is bigoted and hateful. Refusing medical treatment based on the amount of care a person takes of their body is not right.

If we were all taking care of our bodies the way we should, society wouldn't be spending much on health care in the first place. MOST medical conditions are preventable. MOST people don't bother to worry about it until it's too late.

Barebacking is stupid. Its just as stupid as smoking, eating too much and any other abuse of the body.

NO... I'm gay and I believe if anyone can engage in unsafe sex, then they deserve what they get. There is NO EXCUSE for getting aids unless the other person did not tell them they had aids, and if that is the case then they should be charged with murder!!! Or blood transfusion. Other than that I do not feel sorry for anyone with aids. They decided to have sex without using protection. Aids does not discriminate. It will enter into ANYONES body. Society did not make them sleep with anyone that is effected with aids, why the hell should society pay for their own mistake! People need to start taking responsibility for their own actions. Anyone that has aids and sleeps with as many people as they can knowing they are spreading it needs to be killed slowly and a painful death. Male and Females can have aids and spread it. It is not just a gay disease, it's an everybody disease. Use protection with ANYONE that you choose to have sex with. NO EXCUSES ACCEPTED...

heres where i let the side down,, i think barebackers are a disgrace to us gay's
There is no excuse in the world to not use a condom and yes ok mistakes do happen and i will accept that, but if you are gonna want to have bareback sex, straight or gay then you suffer the consequences.
just as i do not think society should not support kids who go out looking for sex just to have a child, they should not get any benefits and should be looked down upon by society.

ok im off my soapbox now!

Use that same question and instead of gay put heterosexual. would it be okay then? Yeah, it would. The same thing applies here. If a man, any man smokes, should we have to support him medically when he or his family gets cancer or other smoking related illnesses? Yes, it's part of life. What gives us the right to pick and choose who gets support if they truly need it regardless of what happened. Should we not treat the drunk driver who caused the accident on the 401 because it was his fault. That's roundabout murder.

Sure.

Society should also medically support straight, heterosexual women who constantly have unprotected sex and get HIV.

That's a tuff question..........I started to answer it wondering if by barebacking you meant not using a condem, but I don't think that's what you mean at all. I think I'll just say gay men are smart for the most part and I think they've got it "covered"......and I'll always give them my support.

It is impossible to know if a person did or didn't use condoms...so making any rules which disallow medical aid to those who don't practice safe sex would only cause people to lie. We should offer the same amount of medical support to homosexuals who get aids as we would to heterosexuals who get aids.
