The secret to being the best parent there is, is that there should not be any major "SECRETS" between you and your kids. Show them that you love them and be actively involved in their lives, but whatever you do for God's sake don't spoil them (take it from someone whose never had a child, but wish he could send a few of his friends' kids to a permanent station on the moon! lol)

I don't think there's a secret for being the best parent. I believe if:

1. You love your children unconditionally and
2. Respect them
3. Spend quality time with them everyday
4. Protect them from harm
5. Discipline them with thought, not anger
6. Educate them to the best of your ability
7. Provide for them to the best of your ability
8. Maintain optimal health for them through diet and medical care
9. Be a role model with morals and standards
10. And tuck them in every night with a kiss

You're a 'best' parent!

I have two children, ages 26 and 20. If I had to choose one single thing to impart to other parents, it would be to be involved in your children's lives. Know their friends (and their parents), talk to their teachers, get down on the floor and play games with them. If your children know that the parent cares enough to want to be a part of their lives, they are more open, more willing to share, and more apt to come to you if they have a problem.

By doing everything in your power to love and care for that child - if you do all that is possible than you're a wonderful parent. They might not appreciate it for 20 years but eventually they will get it lol

Quality time starts with quantity time. Beyond that, take a look at Provers 22:6: "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."

I would guess by relating to their situation and their feelings. Things that seem trivial to you are a big deal to them.Life is traumatic enough.
