its easy to accuire bad habbits than goodones . its hard to leave bad ones than goodones. so prevention is betterthan cure

I think you know what you have to do, the problem is you are still thinking whether to start to gain good habits or not OR when to start. If somebody know about their bad habit and if they feel it is bad habit, that is really a bad habit. Instead of trying to destroy the bad habits, try to think about doing good work, try to do some good work, read good thinks, watch good thinks and by trying to think within yourselves about good things and by doing it, things will start changing. Once you realise that doing positive things or thinking about developing good habits itself makes a person happy. If a person has a bit of commitment & confidence to do certain things, I feel, he can achieve it, come what may!.

It is done through culture we born in. Character is societal base.
If we don't fight it we build up good habit verses bad habit according to the value system governed in the place we live.
Since, the value system has been changing through out the history we chang also to be in Harmony.
The fighting comes about when culture is not in Harmony with our nature.That is why things are constantly changing.
As social being we should consider some sort of harmony with our own nature and acceptable character.

Just DECIDE to do it and stick to your committment. Identify the ones (bad) that you want to get rid off and focus on losing them. Habits CAN be changed!

Do not count on the good things you have. Analyze yourself and eliminate the bad things in you. Then every that remains in you will be good. Do this every time you think of doing something.
