I don't want to keep on taking pain kilers. Excercise sometimes helps, but anything for too long makes the pain worse. I eat a fairly balanced diet, if on a limited budget. I am only 53 and worry that my lifestyle is already affected by pain. Any advice would be helpful.

In my book, these are the things good for arthritis in order of very important to helpful...

msm, s-adenosylmethionine,( do not use it you are manic depressive or take prescripton anti depressants) sea cucumber, silica, superoxide dismutase or cell guard, trimethylglycine, vit e, boron, calcium, magnesium, plus copper, vit d and zinc, cerasomal cis 9 cetylmyristoleate, dimethylglycine, free form amino acid complex, Nature's Plus joint cream, kelp or alfalfa, multienzyme complex, ( do not use if you have a history of ulcers), selenium, a hypoallergenic formula of b vitamins, pantothenic acid, folic acid, vit c, vit k, garlic capsules, msm lotion, arthritic pain relief cream from Wakanuga, and there is more...I have stuff on herbs and other foods to eat and ones to stay away from, and other things to help, you can email me for more info if you want the help and dosages. Stay away from iron if you can and caffeine and red meat, and fat period, also dairy products, citrus fruits, paprika, salt as much as you can, tobacco and sugar. Avoid peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, and white potatoes. These interfere with enzymes in the muscle and may cause pain. Get iron from beets, black strap molasses, brocolli, spinach, fish, lima beans, and peas.
I have more info, so like I said you can email me if you like...if you try all this stuff, try just a couple of things at a time to make sure your body handles it well. Good luck!!

Try Emergen-C with MSM. Many people find it extremely effective. It has a highly bioabsorbable delivery system...much better than most MSM products. It comes in a powder which you mix with water or juice. It doesn't taste bad...kind of like a fizzy, slightly salty lemonade.

You should take at least one packet a day, more if you are having a lot of pain. I've known people to drink as many as 3 or 4 packets a day when they were really hurting. Once you get the problem under control you won't need that many, but you need to continue with a daily maintenance dose to avoid flare-ups.

I have a preventive medicine physician friend who regularly recommends this to his arthritic patients and they have reported back very favorably on the benefits. Most good health food stores will carry it, but you can also order it online. There are other Emergen-C products, so be sure you get the one with MSM.

Shark cartilage from Seagate.com ...Also drink plenty of water. It is actually dehydration that can cause joint pain. Go on a high protein low carb diet. No corn peanuts or wheat. Juice carrots with fresh ginger and raw garlic. Ginger is an anti-inflammatory. Take alot of ant-fungals. Fungus is a bad thing and causes the body to get sick. Research all this on the internet. Yes, buy & use the capsules of SERRAPEPTASE, enteric-coated is best. Take 40,000 units severl times daily, away from food. It really calms inflammation. It's wonderful! It's harmless. It's a natural enzyme made by the silkworm which digest the cocoon. It cleans garbage out of the tissues.

try taking Bromelain (1000GDU) Its an enzyme found in
pineapple and papaya, it reduces inflammation. I started taking it
after I had a bout of tendinitis, and found that naproxen didn't agree
with my stomach. I find that Jarrow makes the best. Glucosamine/ Chondroitin Sulfate
is another supplement that had had good results .

My mother-in-law suffered from Arthritus and we tried a number of things. One of the most effective was Emu oil rubbed onto the painful area. You can order it online.

Another very simple and cost effective temporary solution was warmth.

Arthritis is a progressive disease and unfortunately there is no cure for it. Treatment usually consists of a strong variety of aspirin and special exercise. Speak to your doctor.
