Can i really play the drums and still be kind of a girly girl? Oh also what is the best way to learn to play the drums.

You can be pretty n' petite--and play drums like Neal Peart. Buy sticks and "air drum", visualizing where your drums and cymbals are and how they would sound. Note the timing of the beats, how they're done--and closely note your foot pedal beats, too.

In the meantime, work at buying your rig and pick up some music trade mags on drumming; they're out there. Learn plenty from them, too. Oh....and listen to classic 70's rock; the beats are easy to master and will become the foundation of setting your skill levels.

When you finally get the rig, you should be well versed in air drumming to try the real thing. Yes, things will be awkward at first, but you'll discover the rhythms will come along quite quickly.....and from there, you grow on to play like a pro.

Yes you can play the drums and still be a girly girl. It doesn't mean just because you play the drums you're not a girly girl. You go girl! You can go apply for some classes.

First of all make sure you have the co-ordination! The drums are said to be the most difficult instrument to learn to play due to all four extremeties doing 4 different things at one time. If you are not naturally versed with good co-ordination (and timing for that matter) you could never be a truly great drummer.

BEFORE you spend your money on kits, watch and listen to live drummers, air drum to cd's, seek a good instructor and with time you may be good enough and decide to invest some money on a kit. Buying a cheap practice pad kit is best for the time being if you are sure you want a kit (Pearl make a good little practice pad kit - I had one when I was starting 15 years ago).

Girls who play the drums are FVCKIN HOT!!!! The best way to play the drums is to just practice. Listen to A LOT of different music, and find drum tabs online. Practice as much as possible.

My daughter does! She's not that girly--kind of geeky but in an adorable way. You can get someone do give you lessons or you can just play around on them. It worked for Mickey Dolenz. Oh wait, he probably had a crew of people teaching him. But still, you can do it.
