Office politcs is like Turmites once it starts penetrating and spreading it only causes destruction.
It is called as Grapewine.
There are two ways that u can choose , either u get u r self completely involved or keep ur self away from it.
The best remedy is to keep Silence concentrate on u r work and maintain a small distance from all so that we donot get involved.
If u achieve this u can climb all the steps of growth.
Make proper use of ur communication skills and Grapewine and u wil suceed

Keep to yourself. Don't have personal conversations at work and don't commiserate with others. Keep your job to yourself and keep all conversations professional.

Keep your space free of any personal paraphernalia. A simple wedding photo in a small frame (2x3) and a similar sized family photo is fine. No 50 pics of your kids, your dog, your vacation, etc. No religious stuff laying around. No 'statement' pieces lying around - things that others could find offensive, no matter *how* playful you mean them to be.

Consider work a social free zone. If people start to talk about personal issues, excuse yourself and find something else to keep you busy.

If people don't have the ammo, then their attacks on you will be less.

If it's a particular situation, talk to a supervisor about it and what you can do to fix it. A hostile work environment is good for no one - they will usually try and find a way to compromise.

Talk to your supervisor about what is going on. Hopefully they can be of some help. I was going thru the same thing and the girl that was causing all the problems finally got fired. If your supervisor does nothing, maybe its time for a new job.

Work place politics are like rain....You cant stop the rain... it happens sometimes that unfair things occur... what you do is develop a skill outside of your job and then work it from home... this way you have something as a backup plan just in case it rains on you...

It's hard, but try not to get involved yourself and therefore have no enemies, like the Swiss. Don't be America or China, in other words. If you don't bad-mouth other people, they're less likely to hear about it and bad-mouth you.
