I live in New Jersey, and it seems that every time there is a meteor shower visible to this region the clouds block my view. Tonight the Persiad meteor shower was suppose to be visible from 9pm to 12, yet, when I went out to look - it was cloudy. Does this happen to you? Just venting! Thanks.

Not all the time. It is really noticeable when it does, espcially when you plan for it, and make all the arrangements, and then it doesn't work out the way you hoped.

Plus it would have to be really cloudy to block out the Perseids. There are so many of them. OK, we didn't have clouds tonight in the deep south, but I didn't check for the Perseids.

You have a week of opportunities or so left. so good luck on another night.

meteor showers are caused by debris left in the orbit of comets.
as a comet travels through space, it leaves a trail of dust and debris in its wake
On average, the debris ranges in size from thinner to no larger than a grain of sand. The Particles are moving around 160,000 mph 100 times faster than a bullet, when the earth passes through the comets debris-laden orbit the particles are heated by the earths atmosphere and, once a year we see a meteor shower and its cloudy

If you missed the Perseids, here is a chance to see a nice pic from a previous similar night, on 2000:)

"no person answer my question interior the climate section, that's why i positioned it interior the A&S section." Did you think of of attempting 'Celebrities', or maybe 'soccer (American)'? the two of those could be as logical. you reside close to the sea. the sea produces various moisture (in fact, it extremely is moisture!). That moisture produces clouds. everywhere at sea point in a coastal section will oftentimes see clouds. suitable now, your success is working low, despite the fact that it extremely is going to sparkling up ultimately.

Unsure.
Perhaps it's the parts that break off the meteors.
