And what have you done to fix it?

Please don't say anything blunt like hate. Be spcific.

I would say it is poverty and so far i have done nothing to fix it.

The world's biggest problem is the false "superiority" of idealism over realism.

The world will be a better place, especially an unrecognizably more peaceful place, when people reject utopian schemes and ideological concepts in favor of an alert appreciation for reality.

What am I doing about it? Teaching the young to live under the radar of the thought police as well as the importance to their own survival of keeping their soul alive through realistic appreciation of art -- newspaper article about my program -- www.mapsgroup.org/urban_coyotes.htm

I'm conducting a small session here in Hot Springs, SD, this very week, it is "work in progress" for me.

I can't for sure say what the BIGGEST problem is, but I see many big problems. As a 17 year old, there isn't much I can do. Aids is a shame. I know what causes it. People try to say it's underage or premarital sex. True, abstinence would solve the problem, unless your married to a man (or woman) who cheats on you, gets aids, and then gives it to you. But Abstinence couldn't be farther from human nature and it just isn't going to happen. The vast majority will have sex underage. So obviously we need a different solution.

I wouldn't say I'm a republican, and I certainly wouldn't say I was a democrat. I'm my own, moderate thing. I wouldn't call Bush pure evil either. But he is pushing for an abstinence movement that teaches kids to be abstinent INSTEAD of teaching them how the reproductive process works, what products can reduce the risk of STDs and pregnancy, etc. The method of teaching the process and prevention, known as contraception, is what's going to reduce the spread of aids, as well as many other such problems. Contraception is the solution.

But, at 17, there's little I can do to help in the matter. I don't sit back and do nothing. I express my views, back it up with proof, answer questions such as these on yahoo... but I have no money, no power, and no voice on the issue. I'm not even old enough to vote. I go on saying contraception is the answer, but those who already agree simply agree and continue to do nothing, and those who don't agree ignore me. They don't hear me out, they don't check their facts, they don't care at all.

Us. We're the biggest source of pollution (all kinds), the greatest danger to ALL the other inhabitants on the planet, the most destructive agent acting upon the earth- and the most likely to blow the world to smithereens if given half a chance. How to "fix it"? Do nothing. We'll simply self-destruct & the galaxy will be saved... ... ... Now what did you say about not having done anything to "fix it" -yet?

Great question! In my opinion, the biggest problem in the world is ignorance. Most people across the globe have preconceived notions about people in other countries. We as humans often tend to judge others by what we are told rather than what we know.

ignorance and stupidity. There's a saying: what's the difference between ignorance and stupidity?- don't know, don't care'. It is saddening to see that those which are capable of aiding others choose not to. It's even worse to see people keep themselves in the dark about worldly and community issues, simply because knowing and acknowledging require and encourage action. Those two traits, in my opinion, are the biggest of problems in this world.

the biggest problem...wasting money on cancer research. people dont realize that cancer is the little brother of death. it Kills parts of organs. the only way to get rid of it is to cut out the infected area. You can not reverse its effects, and it is not considered a "cure" to stop its growth. IF people can find a way to CURE cancer, than that means that people will find a way to cure death. It will never happen. I have done nothing to fix the problem, other than to spread the news, that its a waste of HUGE money to continue funding this dream.

observation, communication, comprehension and tolerance. these things are in very short order on our blue little planet. if we sat and took the time to look at each other we would se that we are basically all the same and we should be finding ways to help those that dont have food. Once we hve fed every one we need to find a way to make sure that every one will always will stay fed.

You. No, just joking. I would say intolerance and cultural misunderstanding. I have frequently engaged in discussion with professors and co-workers about how cultures vary, what is different about their own culture, and to share their culture with me. I have been in discussions where I try to get the other person to see a point from a different angle. Like I have a few mexican co-workers. They eat candy covered with chili powder, and I thought that was wierd, because to me, chili is not a candy substance, it is used to flavor meal dishes. But I know that there exists garlic candy. This is also wierd to me. But not to the garlic eaters. To them it is just what goes with candy. It makes sense to them, just like chili powder on candy makes sense to my co-workers. I was trying to get them to see that both garlic and chili powder are not neccessarily candy substances, but to some people they are (their position was that chili powder was definitley a candy substance no matter what part of the world you are in, as if every culture accepted it as fact) and to some they are not. My whole point was that there is no such thing as an absloute across cultures when it comes to any one cultural preference. It was in this case I was trying to achieve cultural understanding, but it kinda failed because either I was not eloquent on my point, they didn't get it, or they were unwilling to see the discussion from a different point of view, which wold be sad. It was not a language issue, they both speak english (one was actually born here, but she was raised by a mexican mom and dad).
