This also happened to me, I was okay with dairy until about age 18. There is over-the-counter Lactaid which you can take or you can just switch over to soy or rice milk. You should play with your boundaries a little though so you know your triggers. For instance, me, if I have any more than a cup of 2% milk I feel awful and also any cream based pasta sauce like alfredo. But ice cream, cheese, or yogurt does not bother me (maybe because a serving size if much less). Good luck!

Do not painc you can learn to live with lactose intolerance. In fact, some experts agree that most ppl will eventually become lactose intolerant and do not consider it a disease in the conventional sense.
while there are no miracle pill that make your body produce more lactase, the good news is that the condition is easy to manage with a tailored diet and a finger on what works for your body.
1st determine how much lactose u can ingest at a time, then start cutting out foods with lactose that u can live without, the goal is to build a stable diet around food without lactose.
when shopping for food, check the labels carefully. Words that shld raise a red flag incude: cream, milk, milk solids, whey, cheese, powered milk, butter etc. pppl with low tolerance for lactose shld be especially alert- salad dressings, instant soup, cereals ,bread n other baked goods contain even small amts of lactose.
Lactase enzyme supplements, which help you digest lactose come in pills and drops and can be bought over the counter at any drug stores .
Make sure u get enough calcium and vit D from other sources such as fish, green leafy vegs and fresh fruit juice.a min out in the sun two to three times a week shld allow yr body to produce enough vit D on its own.. check with yr doc if whether u need to take supplements.
here is a break down of calcium and lactose in common food
diary products/veg Calcium(mg) lactose(g)
yoghurt plain low fat 1cup 415mg 5g
milk reduce fat 1cup 295mg 11g

pinto beans 1/2 cup 40mg 0

First of all, don't drink milk or other products that contain milk. Second, go to your doctor to get more information on what to avoid eating/drinking and how to maintain your health.
