Fishtales is very good seafood. Also there is this little cafe called sunflower cafe and it is delicious. It a sandwhich soup place with a full fledge bakery. They make everything there. They even roast the turkey and ham for the sandwhiches fresh each morning. All pastries are made there to. The eclairs and pecan bars are to die for.

Galveston does not have any great restaurants. Gaido's was very good a long time ago, but now it's just so-so. They have fair to good service, depending on the waiter. The food is well prepared and has an atmosphere that reminds me of restaurants I went to as a child in the 60's. I would have to pick it as the best in Galveston, but not by much. There are many restaurants that are much better in Houston.

Like the other folks said, there's better food in Houston and Gaido's used to be good...but if you're in Galveston try:
(I can't say which is the "best", you'll have to decide that for yourself. It's a matter of taste, budget, and service preference).
Landry's Seafood (same service and quality as you'll get in their Houston location).
Willie G's
Fisherman's Wharf
Bernardo's at Hotel Galvez
The Steakhouse at The San Luis Resort
Why? Because they all run consistent, good quality operations. Many of the other restaurants in Galveston I didn't include are "hit or miss".

Sorry I know this is rude, but I have to...
Good restaurants, in Galveston? Are you kidding? Especially as there is so much good food in Houston!
Gotta be some good bar-b-que somewhere - MAYBE a good seafood restaurant (but I doubt it)
EDIT>>> sorry, not sure where I got the idea you were from Houston... anyway, good luck finding good food in Galveston!
EDIT II>> alright, so I'm feeling guilty... try this link
