US politicians are bought by corporations and do what they are told to do by their masters.

So long as individual Americans do nothing but complain, what else can we expect? A politician is not going to risk his career by offending the people who actually support him in favor of people who do nothing but whine.

That's the real world. 50% of Americans don't bother to vote, much less actively involve themselves in political campaigns or issues.

Everyone once cared very much. Windfall profits tax inflamed the situation and the states like CA have gas taxes today. Those that want lower taxes are not inside the establishment circle.
The worst part it that there is little gov can do anyway. Oil is controlled by the antagonists of the American story and the protagonists must obey their own laws. Its the same story applied to oil and gasoline prices.

Ever notice that whenever an oil guy gets into office (George H.W Bush, Dick Cheney, George W, Bush) we somehow find ourselves at war with a country rich in oil and gas prices sky rocket.

I'm sure the fact that these oil guys are in office has nothing to do with it. Purely a coincidence.

Actually it was John Kerry who wanted to raise the taxes at the pump even higher, like 50 cents per gallon to fund alternative energy when lots of us have No choice but to drive to work. Bush has tried to lower it because he is much better for the working person and understands we need our money more than the government needs taxes!

The current increases have nothing to do with who is or is not president. They have to do with simple supply and demand throughout the world!!!

They should neither one of them care, but thank God they do care. Do you want to blame someone for oil problems? Bush's family owns NO oil, but Ted Kennedy does own a big chunck of BP, and that is the reason we cannot drill in ANWR. Mr Cheney has no idea where his fortune is invested, it is all in a double blind trust, but; he works every day to get politicians to stop all that foolishness bought about by environmentalist whackos that prevents U.S. from producing its own oil.. The govt gets over 20% per gallon of all fuel sold in america, the oil companies get 7 cents.. We are dependent on crazy dictators, muslim homicidal maniacs, and socialists whack jobs for foreign oil,, GET A BIKE NUMBNUTTS!! Dick doesnt own a rolls.

the price of oil will go up until alternate energy sources become economical. Only then will the price stabilize.
This planet is finally running out of drillable oil sources, but you'll never hear that from your government. They don't trust you to be able to think for yourself, so they will only feed you enough information to keep you under their control.
