Actually, it only cost 2 points. How? Because if you pick a best answer for your question, which I should get, you're awarded 3 points. So it breaksown to:
You ask the question- minus 5
Award me best answer-+10 for me
And you gain 3 points back for choosing a best answer!

You know, with the way point inflation is these days, it could quickly cost you 6, 7 or even up to 10 points to ask a question. That means you would have to up to answer five questions. With people making ever increasing ammounts of points and the value of the point being reduced every day, its reminiscent of the great inflation of Germany in the 20's and 30's, disrupting the global economy, and creating situations where Deutsch Marks were basiclly valueless, and it was cheaper to burn the Marks than buy coal. If we ever find ourselves in that situation with todays Yahoo! Point, may god have mercy on our souls.

What does points mean anyway ?? .. it is just nothing .. Points are pointless as they say .. if you got 10000000 points .. do that make any difference ?? .. sure not .. so ask and you will get benefits of having answers. .. and choose a best answer so you get 3 points .. then ... answer 1 question .. you got 2 points which means you got your 5 points back

Well you just wasted 5 points to ask this question but if you had a good, or important question it would be good. Some are some aren't.

No !!!
These points might lead to you enlightenment ... who knows what can come from these points, maybe the presidency or sainthood, or fame and fortune and sex ... Never give up points ....they are all important.
But ... go for the social change and improving the world anyway.

5 points may seem like a lot now, but once you near 500 points, it doesn't seem like much. and once you're in the thousands, I bet it won't even occur to you that you're losing points.
