I play with a heavy racquet and lately i've been getting frustrated because i can't hit the ball hard enough for it to go over the net. Granted, i play just fine its just that, when i'm almost at the edge of the court and i try to hit it, it doesn't go over. I've lost points that way. Anyway, i need advice on how to add a bit more force to my swing...even though i'm on the highschool team (lol) (The two hands thing isn't working very well either)

If you aren't getting the ball over the net, it could be because you're not doing enough down to up motion with your racket. I used to bring my racket motion down after hitting the ball to give it more top spin but it was inconsistant.

Also, try using your knees more. Lower your entire body via knee and push off of it as you hit the ball. Notice basketball players bend their knees also when shooting; that is their vertical momentum they are giving to the ball.

As for more strength, the knee helps too but make sure you're body is in a stable position and not flayling (like when you are making running shot).

A lot of power comes from rotation of the waist actually. A thing Agassi liked to do on his forehand was take his free hand and move it to the racket side before he hit the ball so that he knew his waist was turned. Also if you look at baseball pitchers, their waist is turned perpendicular to the batter before pitching but their ending position is facing toward the batter.

As far as two handed forehands, I feel like I lose balance so I use one handed instead. I'm still trying to decide whether to do one handed or two handed backhands but both have different body motions so ask your coach about that.

I had the same problem when i was a begginer. But, overtime i started having stronger shots. I think it's cause by playing a lot, you get more control and eventually you can just whack the ball and it still goes in. If you feel like you still have weak shots you can get a power racket, power string, and a lower string tension(higher the tension more control, lower= more power). I myself is on the highschool tennis team. I am working out at the gym so i can get ready to kick some a$$ for the season. Oh and make sure you have a good form that somewhat uses your weight on the shots.

Try keeping your body more relaxed( breath out as you hit) as you swing through the shot . Still go after it , but do not muscle up on it. Try and move towards the ball , move Diagonally so you cut the court down , by doing this you will generate more power by getting your body into the shot and also give your opponent less time. After you hit do not stand and watch either follow your shot in or scramble back to the baseline. Try it , it should work

Well playing with a heavy racquet can be maybe toying with your timing.. If you can stand the extra weight you can also try using lead tape along the top of the racquet to give the ground strokes a boost, but maybe at the sacrifice of racquet mobility on the volleys.. If these don't help, it's time to start lifting some weights =)

power in tennis is related to the mass of the racket multiplied by the racket head speed. From the sounds of it, you already have a heavy head (which is good)... now you need to focus on accelerating your swing and thereby making the racket head go faster. To get the feeling of that, try hitting a few balls by loosening your wrist.
