When reading responses, although reading the pointless answers surely is amusing, arguments with a substantial point are preferred.
Personally, I choose "best" answers that cover all the bases, so to speak. I typically favor answers that mention all possibilities and have open-minded sentiments, but while still maintaining it's own perspective, leaning heavily towards one aspect of his/her response. So, for example, if one question was fairly open, and one responder answered that it could possibly be answers A-E with reasoning, but said they, themselves, would choose choice B or something... I'd probably choose that answer as the "best" answer. Those responses just seem the most elaborate, while still arguing for one specific perspective.
If you're referring to the type of people I like best, I'd have to also go with the "speak of everything, but support one thing" ideology... like people who are open-minded enough to ACCEPT everything, but are still able to argue vehemently for their own point(s).
Ah, a bit rambly of a response, but hopefully this will do.
Interesting question. When I'm in a mood, though, I suppose reading a response with no point, if it is funny enough, can act as a bit of a stress reliever-- although it wouldn't get the "best" answer. But conversely speaking... the pointless answers sometimes make me huff and type short comments in return... it depends on the pointlessness, I suppose.
Definitely prefer having a point while keeping open to all points though.

I make it a point to be as pointless as possible when gathering points. I also reward pointless answers with 10 points. I hope that this answer was short and to the point.
