Not good ,not good at all.
You burned up the fuel pump .
Any time you run out of gas you risk burning it up , because it was designed to pump liquids not air.
When it's dry it spins way !!!! too fast which over heats it.!!!!

Sorry ................

If the engine will not turn over when you try to start it then it may be unrelated to having no fuel. You can try to diagnose the problem by plugging in an OBDII scanner and see what the engine computer says is wrong with the Tahoe.

running out of gas will not cause the engine not to turn over, check the battery cables for corrosion and tightness, then check starter for loose or burnt wires, also check to see if you have a fuse burned out. if the engine does turn over, but does not start you may have burnt the fuel pump relay or the fuel pump. the fuel pump is located in the fuel tank and is cooled by the gas, and if you run your tank low on fuel, the pump will get hot and short out, and can also short the fuel pump relay, or the fuel pump fuse. you may also check to make sure it is all the way in the park position (gear selector) or try to start it in neutral position, to see if the neutral safety switch is working properly

if its turning over but not starting, and u have enough gas,try turning the key forward till just before where the vehicle normally starts,do this 4 to 5 times to possibly prime the pump

how much gas did you put in it?

i once ran my car out of gas and only put one gallon in it and it still wouldn't crank. i thought something was wrong with it when all i needed to do was add a couple of more gallons to get it started.

consider putting more gas in it and it might just crank.
