My partner and I a mixed couple, so I would feel safest in a diverse neighborhood. All homogenous neighborhoods strike me as a bit scary, no matter the nationality.
Frankly, though, I'd look first at the scores of the local schools, the wealth of the neighborhood, and statistics about education, employment, and crime.

I lived in a predominantly white lower/middle to middle class neighborhood--a beautiful apartment complex, overlooking a lake, until the East side decided to redevelop--now, it is overrun with younger blacks. What used to be a beautiful complex is now trashed--litter in the hallways, cars broken into, arguments and yelling all night long against the back-beat of bass-y rap music, guys walking around all night meeting people at their car wanting cigarettes and some selling drugs inconspicuously, and graffiti on the building. Last night, there were gun shots outside. This has happened in the course of SIX months, and I am not kidding. Do I feel safe here? NO. I am afraid that when I come home from work, my apartment will be robbed--my car stereo and various items in my car have already been stolen, and I feel violated, in a way. At one time, I lived in an all white neighborhood, on the "bad" side of town, and that was just as bad--meth labs scattered throughout the neighborhood, trashy, filthy people knocking on my door in the middle of the night, asking for a ride or for money, and drunk, loud, obnoxious rednecks fighting all the time--that sucked too. I lived in a Mexican neighborhood also. Actually, I felt very safe there for a while. The parties all night long and the whooping and drunk singing to live (or DJ'd music over a mic) were fking annoying (as I was a student, who actually did my homework). However, my neighbors were the nicest people I ever met, and would do anything for me. They always checked on me to be sure I was safe or had something good to eat. Still, when the gangs began to form, there were drive-by shootings, which scared the whole neighborhood.... so, not REALLY a safe place all the time. Next week, I move to the country-- a little tiny exclusive town a few miles outside the city with all whites--farmers and upper/middle class folks. This is how I grew up, and this is what seems safe for me. I have my 22-guage, my dog, and a nice nosey neighbor who has chickens and bakes cookies, so I think I will be right at home. I don't have experience with the other types of neighborhoods, so I couldn't say if I would or would not feel safe there.

Well, I think a Black or Mexican neighborhood would be the least safe because they tend to have many problems and think lowly of themselves. White neighbourhood is also not very safe either because most serial killers seem to be whites. I would think the Russian, Chinese or Korean neighbourhood would be safer because they probably are more cultured and don't have as much violence, drugs and so forth.

If I had to choose, and rent/housing was equal and crime levels were equal, etc.. I would most likely move to a Russian Neighborhood. I have Russian friends.. and I think they are at an interesting crossroad . No one is safe and no one is in danger. We are were we are. Neighborhoods are good/

I like where I live. Latino, Black, Laotian, Italian, Viet Namese, business men, ranchers, artists, musicians, farmers, conservatives, independents, liberals, almost all eastern and western religions, quite a wide spectrum. Guess what? Nobody steps on any one's toes, anyone will help another, if possible. Sounds like Shangri-La?
Nope. Siskiyou County, northern California. Join us if you wish, but leave your cultural baggage behind, as it would be useless to you here.

it doesn't matter to me. Skin color or the Language some one speaks doesn't make me feel safe or not. I have lived in so many places that they all seem like home to me. I think it is ignorance that has people scared of certain "neighborhoods"

I feel safe in my neighboorhood because most of the neighboors are Mexican (from mexican) families and don't speak much english. I don't have to worry about a lot strangers coming into the neigborhood because they keep to themselves. They don't steal your stuff. And, unlike white people, they won't slash your tires or break your window or anything just because you do something they don't like. They are not vindictive or judgemental.
I feel unsafe in rural and isolated (country) neigboorhoods because people who live in the middle of nowhere are psychotic nuts.
Other than that, white people are the only ones you can't turn your backs on.

What makes a foul white community any safer than undesirable black community? There are white gangs and white thugs as properly as there are black gangs and black thugs. maximum undesirable white human beings might act the comparable way if a black got here up of their community as undesirable black human beings might act if a white guy or woman got here up of their community. And that is not fullyyt the white human beings or the black those that act this style, that's the IGNORANT black human beings and the IGNORANT white human beings. there is no longer the rest to it.
