My father and grandfather are each worth multi millions due to their businesses. I am so sick and tired of everyone assuming that I am rich because my family is...I'm 19, I do not drive a nice, or even decent, car, I live in an efficiency in an upper middle class apartment complex, and I work at a retail store for seven an hour!

I quit accepting money from them when I moved out of the house about a year ago. I get people asking me ALL THE TIME to lend them money, or to have my family donate to whatever cause.

I am fed up! Yes, I want to be wealthy too, but I want to work for it just like my family did, not just have it handed to me.

What would you do in this situation? What would you tell your friends?

Thanks!

i would tell them to contact your families representative and ask them, that you have nothing to do with your family's money, but kind of give them the run around, and when they come back tell them that you are not sure what they are talking about, don't give out any numbers, tell them that its in the book, and as for your friends, tell them that if you had extra money you would help them out, as you would even if you didn't have the money hanging over your head, but you cant afford it, and when they ask you to ask your family, tell them, that's not my money, and that you don't have any access to it

I would tell them that you can't touch a penny of it until you are 30. It's a harmless fib and you can explain the truth to your real friends.

i think if you tell them what you said here it would be enough. if not then they aren't your friends.
