i have always wanted to be a cop then detective eventually. but i also love forensics so i was thinking of crime scene detective (i no its not like tv) but help me with academic area what some of them are

Forensic sciences. I'm not sure you can take that as an undergraduate but give it a shot. John Jay's the best in public university in newyork.

Take Criminal Justice courses - they cover forensics. And don't forget about photography - I've never seen a crime scene without need of photographs of the area, car(s), bodies, etc.

I would go online to a law enforcement agency in my area, look for human resources department. There will be job qualification requirements typically in the job listing. You can also find the forensics lab phone extension under departments, sometimes email addresses are listed. Never hurts to ask someone doing the job! Hope this helps.

The obvious answer for being a police officer/detective is criminal justice. I'd also at least minor in a science related field for the crime scene detective part...
