It's historic and built into the fabric of this nation's mindset. When they colonized this country they called the Native Americans savages who only wanted to rape, pillage and plunder white people. Of course this only happened AFTER the Native Americans showed them how to survive here. When they stole Africans from Africa for slavery they called them subhuman, savage and incapable of morality. Justified the cruelty of slavery with the notion that the subhuman African left unchecked would also rape, pillage and plunder white people.
So now, although racism is an old idea that many people still sadly embrace, and DOLLARS are more the OBVIOUS goal (in reality they always were,) we instill new fears amongst the populace to keep them under control and unaware of the real problems.
God bless America! We really need his blessing.

Because fear is a powerful emotion ,I would say using deception to create an illussion which we then fear to control us..But one has the choice to be controlled, or not.

Its the same way religions control people. They both play off peoples fear to acquire loyalty and devotion.

You mean why does the Bush Administration do that. Bush finds it increases his popularity. People in fear fear change. He gets reelected. It's wearing off though. People have seen through him.

Cause it works. And they can create situations, which cause most people to feel afraid....be it through action, inaction, or effectively producing a perceived threat. Like those above me said, it's worked for religion for scores of scores.
