Don't...
That's the same as putting all of your eggs in one basket expecting a slow stroll on soft grass. Guaranteed that a rock is just waiting for you to trip.
When I interview someone and they are currently working, if they tell me that they can start tomorrow, I wont hire them qualifications or not.
I expect that a qualified, mature, responsible employee with any level of dignity and integrity will tell me that they must give an appropriate notice and that they would contact me in a day or so to give me a start date. Anything less, they are not worth a plug nickel.
Why? Because, if they do it to the other employer, they will do it to me if the carrot is dangling close enough when they decide they don't make enough or the job isn't what they wanted or thought it would be.
Besides, secured? All that tells me is that you THINK you may have a new job. Seen that happen all to often and I must admit I enjoy the hell out of that one. Nothing better than an employee who thinks the world revolves around how good they are, give notice and/or just quit, thinking they have the new job in the bag, only to find themselves out of ANY JOB. They come dragging back with their tails between their legs...
I am not the monster you think. If they gave a decent notice, did a decent job, and had a decent work ethic, IF THE JOB was still open I have hired a few back.

Don't quit until you have a for sure job offer in hand. Tell your new employer, that you have to give 2 weeks notice to your current employer. This will have a positive effect all the way around. It will make your new employer respect you for being considerate of your current employers needs, and for being honest with him. Also, it will allow you to use your current employer as a good reference fo future employers. You don't ever want to leave on a bad note. They could give you a bad reference. Besides, you want to do the right thing anyway. And that's the right thing to do. Wait until it's for sure, then give notice.
Best wishes!

I would wait until you are certain you have the other job - as in they have offered it to you, and you have a time and day to go fill in paperwork. Then you tell your present employer that you are putting in your two week notice. You should never burn any bridges, because you may need that work reference or that job back. You never know what the future holds.

Don't quit your current job until you have an offer letter in your hands from the new company.

Something my granpa used to say my entire life and my mom;s entire life and i shall pass on to my children: Never leave anything secure for something that's not. (it's better in spanish) you never know what can happen....I would recomend to tell you prospective employeer you have another job and that you would have to give them 2 weeks notice if you were hired.
good luck!
