I listen to a radio program where they give money advise. at the end of this program the y say that you should see a professional and that the station will not take any responsibility for anything said. is it just me or does this warning translate. the person you just listen to doesn't know what there talking about and has just made you stupider and we take no responsibility but to tell you to see a professional. doesn't it.

If people weren't so "sue" happy, there wouldn't have to be warnings like that. Its not just that there are several unnecessary lawsuits, but that the rulings on these lawsuits abandon common sense.
I think that if you lose a lawsuit, you should have to pay what you were suing for. That would take care of things like suing McDonald's millions for spilling hot coffee on yourself.

All radio programs, as with TV programs have some kind of disclaimer. If not you would have someone who will misinterpret what is said and then try to blame the station or the host of the show followed by a multi million dollar lawsuit.

Everything seems to have a disclaimer nowadays and it is a clearer reflection of the society we live in rather than the host or hostess of the program being able to give sound advice.

The person that was giving the advise probably paid for that spot on the radio. The radio station is wanting to let you know they don't necessarily feel the way this person does so if you happen to be "sold" on what the "advisor" was saying then it's not the station's fault.

I know what you're saying, but the station is just covering their butts. Because if someone listened to the show, did what was said on the show and lost money, some idiots would actually sue the station, saying it is their fault.

If you were listening to Dave Ramsey he's the best financial adviser around. All stations run some sort of disclaimer for any show that gives advice.

It's called a "disclaimer". To cover their own butts they make the disclaimer that if for some reason if you DO take their advice and it causes something negative to happen that they can't be held legally responsible. Thus follow their advice at your own risk.

If you saw a "professional" I am assuming you would probably be better off ... at least I hope you COULD hold them accountable.

Yeah, that's it in a nutshell. If you act on our advice and find yourself in hot water, we are not responsible.
